Complementary feed for horses: When does it make sense?

The foundation of every horse's diet is roughage. Hay and grass provide energy and crude fiber, but they often do not fully meet the requirements for trace elements such as zinc, copper, and selenium. How large the gap is depends on the soil, the time of harvest, and storage. Complementary feed for horses specifically closes such gaps. What you should look for in horse supplements

• Know the basic ration:First look at hay, pasture, and concentrate feed, then supplement. Minerals add up if several products are fed at the same time.
• Read the declaration:The additives are listed per kilogram in the composition. Organically bound trace elements (chelates) are a highly bioavailable form.
• Sugar and grain:For easy keepers or sensitive horses, it is worth checking for molasses, sugar, and grain content. Annimally mineral feeds are grain-free and contain no added sugar.
